An April Saturday: 5:32pm

Done with art walk, now having a date with Ryan at El Camino before he has to run off for his show.

An April Saturday: 4:22pm

Meeting Ry in Little Italy for the art walk. It's crazy down here!

A Saturday in April: 1:50pm

After a lovely morning of sleeping in and lounging around in bed (where Chris told me all about the previous nights man night at Justin's, which lasted until 4:30am), we're on our way to meet his parents for lunch at Liberty Station. Happy Saturday!

I feel good right now.

I feel awake during the day. I feel creative. I feel important. My blog looks newly awesome. My husband's a freaking Photoshop rockstar. We have a new adventure. Student teaching is finally coming together. (And finally coming to an end.) We 'remodeled' our guest bathroom and it makes me happy inside when I walk past it. I got to scrapbook for the first time in like a year yesterday. The sun's been shining a lot more lately.

Life is grand.

Our business cards are here!

It's Launch Day!

Chris and I are proud to present our little business baby, Next to Me Studios! We are super excited about getting our photography business going, and it's been a busy few months of photo shoots, credential program and student teaching (me), real work stuff (him), and trying to get our business up and running in the in-between times, but we're finally there. Whoo!

One reason why it's smart to invite friends over to your house for a turkey burger dinner:

You finally clean your house after three weeks of saying, "Man, we really need to clean around here."

And even though Jen and Justin had to cancel (poor Zoey's got a 102 fever!), it was not all for naught-- our house is spotless now!

Us, right now

Sitting next to each other at our giant desk. I love our giant desk.

Chris is editing pictures from our last photo shoot: a cute family session with a rock star four-year-old. While doing this, he's watching Netflix movies on his iphone, a new habit he's gotten in to while photo editing. Luckily he finished the season of Dexter he'd been watching last week, so we can again work in the same room. (I will not watch a show about serial killers- I would never sleep again if I did.)

I'm gearing up to start creating study sheets for my Geometry class. Should have started an hour ago, but I've been busy searching the blogger help boards to figure out what's up with that gray box covering my posts. Don't know if everyone else can see it, but it shows up on my screen, and it's annoying!

Chris got to meet Jack from Jack in the Box yesterday. Yes, the Jack. His work did a huge seminar training thingamajig with them. They all got T-shirts that say I Know Jack and Chris got a picture with the guy. Apparently there's only like two people who portray Jack, and Jack in the Box keeps their identities very hush hush.

I finally got my students to turn in a bunch of their past due homework. Having the ability to now threaten them with staying late seems to work. On most of them anyway.

I can't wait until student teaching is over. And this credential program. I forget, what's it like to do other things when you get home?

Chris will laugh at that when he reads this, because when he came home today I was taking a nap on the couch. But in my waking hours I am working, darn it!

Also, I like that guy. He came to wake me up at 8 so I wouldn't completely destroy my sleep for the night, but really he came to get me because he'd accidentally used the strawberry chapstick that tastes nasty and he figured he could irk me by transferring it to me. And when I accused him of smelling like awful strawberry chapstick he just laughed. Because that's our relationship. Irking each other and then laughing about it.

It's fun.

Last weekend Chris and I trekked up to Monterey along with his parents, Bethany, and their Aunt Eva. That was two long days in the back of a van, but lucky for me, my resourceful husband found us a car adapter for our laptops. So I got some lesson planning done, while watching season one of Boy Meets World.

(Pause. Let's talk about how great that show was. Seriously. It was awesome.)

So Chris and I went up to help photograph his cousin's wedding. We got a lot of great pictures- Chris is going through selecting the "picks" right now- and we're excited to start the edits. The wedding reception was at a restaurant on the wharf, and after the party was over, Chris and I headed out on our own to get some snapshots of Monterey at twilight.
